• The Lack

    “You lack nothing.”

If someone would tell you this, what would this statement change?

Could this encourage you to start something you have had in mind for a really long time? Would you enjoy your life more? Would you get up and start doing something? Would it stop your phase of waiting on what God has in store for you? (more…)

  • As a photographer I had to learn to focus on the right point so that the main thing–or what I had chosen the main thing to be–would be in focus and sharp. If I don’t do it right or fail something else is focused or the picture is blurry.

What I had the revelation about this week is the following:

  • The Day

How many days has YOUR week?

You may think “What a stupid question” but let me tell you why I asked you. (more…)

  • The Boots

This week I started fasting. I decided that I wanted to fast music. It was even harder not to listen to music when I realized the new Hillsong Album was released.

While I was driving to work (not listening to any kind of music) a song came to my mind. Not a Christian song. I hadn’t heard it in a long time. So I asked myself why this specific song was in my head. Some lyrics (the only ones I actually know) “These boots are made for walking….” were stuck in my head. I was wondering what kind of boots I was wearing. No brand came to my mind. But a thought which inspired me for this week’s blog. (more…)

  • The Talk

Why do you pray? What do you expect when you pray? Is it just a monologue or a conversation?

    The Question

How many times do we ask God for something? We ask him for everything. Should I do this, should I go there or you think of something. There is nothing wrong when you have quastions but wouldn’t it be a very annoying conversation with someone who asks you everything. I would think that this person is really immature and needs help for everything. (more…)

  • The Source

“You get what you go for.”

So many times we don’t even realize what we “go for”. I would claim that many christians go for “second hand revelations”, “second hand experiences” and “second hand stories”. We (I totally include myself here) forget that our God is a relational and personal God. He has a perfect personal story for each and every one of us. Sometimes it’s hard to believe this even though it’s a common phrase. Because of this I think we have forgotten to really meditate over this statement in order to truly understand what it means. (more…)

  • The Change

Imagine a person who never had alcohol before. How would he look after his first sip of a beer or another alcoholic  beverage? Would his facial expression change? Well, I think it would. Because he isn’t use to the taste. The more he would drink it, the less he would be surprised by its taste. I think that this applies to a lot of things in our lives. Good and bad things. The more we get used to it the less we are bothered or surprised by it. (more…)

  • The Lifeguard

A lifeguard guards your life. When you are in difficulties he comes to rescue you. He is there to bring you out of the water. But I’m not sure if we always need to be brought out of the water.

I had a revelation this week that Jesus also is a lifeguard but he guards me from life. So he actually isn’t a lifeguard how we know them. He brings me back into the water when I managed to get out of it. (more…)

  • The Inspiration

First I wanted to call this blog post the “Intention”. An intention can be either good or bad. But an inspiration behind something can be crazy, funny, good, loving and caring. Read on to understand what I mean.

When I asked God what my next blog should be on last week, I got the word “inspiration”. I knew what it meant because it was a revelation I had had some years ago. Happy to know what I’d be writing on I decided not to take notes. As some of you might have noticed, I didn’t write a blog last week. I completely forgot what the post was going to be about. Even after telling God that I haven’t missed a week of writing a new blog and I needed this thought back, nothing came back to my mind. (more…)

  • The Creation

One step of obedience. Two steps for the Kingdom of God.

If you have ever asked yourself whether or not God wants to use you – read this. (more…)

  • The Promotion

I thought that I had understood the meaning of the body of Christ, but I hadn’t. A few weeks ago I had a revelation which took away all the thoughts of how I could be overlooked and self promotion. Okay, let’s be honest, with this revelation I can get rid of these thoughts easier. They are not totally gone. (more…)

  • The Provision

When I went to the Philippines over a year ago, I knew that it wouldn’t be easy. Not only because of the different culture and the climate but mostly because of my health. I can only eat gluten free food. So when I left Australia I knew that I wouldn’t be able to eat gluten free food for two months. I prayed to God that He would provide food. Long story short: All I ate was rice, mangoes, meat and bananas. And eggs. Two months. For breakfast, lunch and dinner. (more…)

  • The Connection

God is always sending signals, the question is if we are in a receiving mode. Not that God would spam your letterbox, no he sends you a daily reminder of his love, greatness and grace. We just need to switch from our “worldly mode” to our “receiving God” mode. How that works? It’s pretty simple. Open your eyes for what God has created. The friends you are surrounded by. Your family. Listen to the beautiful sound of birds. The laughter of kids. Trees kissed by the wind. The smell of your favorite perfume. The taste of fresh water. Feel the warm ground under your feet. It’s always a matter of perspective and a decision to walk over the “bridge of awareness”. (more…)

  • The Promise

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

The Bible, 2 Peter 3:9, NIV

  • The Need

“Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”

    The Bible, Jeremiah 33:3, ESV

“Lord, I am here before you. I have prepared a message. A message where people should come closer to you and your heart. Where they should understand how loving and caring you are. But I need you. I need you so that they would understand me correctly. (more…)

  • The Wave

Did you recognize that poor guy on the left side in this picture? He definitely saw the wave, and the other surfer who got to catch it instead of him. What might he (the one still paddling) be thinking? I would assume that he isn’t quite satisfied with the situation. He will have to dive under the wave the other guy caught. The people at the beach will only remember that other guy’s ride if there won’t appear a good wave for him. It’s his decision to wait or to quit. (more…)

  • The Call

Have you ever thought about what you are called to do? What you want to achieve in your life and which skills you need to achieve it?

When I first heard the verse about “the great” commission in Matthew 28 I thought that I would end up somewhere in a desert as a missionary. My social skills would fulfill the requirements and that’s all that mattered. But I was never excited about this idea. Of course there are people out there who love missions like this and there is nothing wrong with that… Anyway, I want to tell you something else. (more…)

  • The Perseverance

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

    The Bible, Romans 8:28, ESV

This verse is known by the most believers. It is the verse with which we try to encourage one another. If you don’t know what to say or tell the people in need or difficult situations, you give them this verse. But the moment you receive this verse, you don’t really like it anymore–I didn’t really like it anymore. It challenged me. I had to believe that everything would work out. But how could it all work out if nothing seemed to be working out in the moment. I couldn’t just ignore this verse that should have encouraged me–it’s written on to my wall in my room. (more…)

  • The Way

If God should make your path straight, you need to start and get on this path. This simply happens when you decide to live a life with and for Jesus.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge
him, and he will make straight your paths.”

    The Bible, Proverbs 3:5-6, ESV

  • The Plan

The title for this blog post is actually wrong. I don’t have a plan for my life.

I do the things I think are right until they don’t feel good anymore and than I look for something that makes me feel good again. Not that I would quit everything that challenges me or would make me grow. No. I do the things I do as long as I have peace for them. As long as I think God wants me there – till I can hear His voice, telling me to do something else. (more…)

  • The Ark

In August 2015 I decided that I wanted to build an ark.

After hearing the story of Noah and how he built his ark I decided that I wanted to do the same.
I wasn’t fascinated by the diversity or number of animals he carried with his ark. Rather was I impressed by the perseverance and faith he had. This ark wasn’t built in a year. According to the Bible it took him 120 years. Imagine how he must have felt during this time. The people around him were evil and he would be the only one who would be saved by the grace of God. (And his family.) So no one would really see what he was doing nor would they understand the importance.‭‭ (more…)
