Last week a friend asked me to give her an advice. She needed an opinion to help on a decision. A decision on what to do next. I gave her the following twelve points which I have learned during the past two years.
1. You should have a vision which isn’t reachable on your own.
– I have a vision which is only reachable with God by my side. It is a vision for life. It gives me a purpose and a focus. This vision helps me to move on. If you don’t have a vision, ask God.
Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him and He will do it.
The Bible, Psalm 37:4-5
2. You can always follow the Lord. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing. Nothing can separate you. (Except your own decision.)
– Whether I would have gone back to Australia or went some where else, God can handle my decision and give my life a purpose. -> My heart needs to be set on Him.
What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?
The Bible, Romans 8:31
3. Look for an environment which sees your potential and makes you blossom.
– This can look very different as we are all individuals and need different things as different things challenge us.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
The Bible, Ephesians 2:10
4. Look for an environment where your gifts can grow and others can learn from you. And you can learn from them.
– Very important and so many times forgotten. You have a gift. Whether you believe it or not. It is there, go and find it!
An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
The Bible, Proverbs 18:15
5. Get real. Face the fact that we live in this world – on purpose. God put you on this planet. People need to hear the good news and see how we live a different life. They won’t get changed without role models.
– Bubbles are great and fun and they can help to focus and change. At some point we need to get out of our comfort zone.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible, Matthew 28:19
6. Pray, listen, ask and go. Tell God that you are ready.
– The God I believe in is a God who trusts His people. So I can trust Him. It is a two way conversation.
And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”
The Bible, Isaiah 6:8
7. It is never too late.
– You might think God has already given up on you, your chance is gone – wrong. Read the next point.
In Him we have redemption through His blood and the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace.
The Bible, Ephesians 1:7
8. You can’t miss a godly opportunity if your heart is set on the Lord.
– God loves you. He doesn’t want to harm you. Open your eyes, focus your heart and you can’t miss anything. He wants to bless you. Don’t miss the opportunity to bless others.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
The Bible, Psalm 84:11
9. What are your dreams? Your personal dreams? God is in them as well. Think of some.
– You are allowed to dream. Even if the world tells you to grow up. Dreams are important, they keep you going.
May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.
The Bible, 2 Chronicles 15:7
10. Listen to your heart. Do you know how to listen to your heart?
– Where everything starts. Your heart. Figure out how to listen to it and act and decide after it.
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
The Bible, Luke 12:34
11. Spend time in Gods presence. Daily. Read his word.
– Without the source of life you can’t do it. I can’t do it. A must if you want to grow and stay strong.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you.The Bible, Psalm 32:8
12. You are in no rush. Take your time. It is an adventure with the Lord. Enjoy it. Embrace it. Don’t force anything
– A life with God is an adventure. Some times hard, hopefully fun and challenging.
Whatever you think could be your next step. God is with you.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
The Bible, Matthew 6:33
