First I wanted to call this blog post the “Intention”. An intention can be either good or bad. But an inspiration behind something can be crazy, funny, good, loving and caring. Read on to understand what I mean.
When I asked God what my next blog should be on last week, I got the word “inspiration”. I knew what it meant because it was a revelation I had had some years ago. Happy to know what I’d be writing on I decided not to take notes. As some of you might have noticed, I didn’t write a blog last week. I completely forgot what the post was going to be about. Even after telling God that I haven’t missed a week of writing a new blog and I needed this thought back, nothing came back to my mind. I decided not to write a blog for the simple reason of uploading something. I wanted to wait on God to tell me what to write about again. I wanted to write my blog post with the right inspiration and intention.
Three days ago, through a random happening, I remembered it. Thank you, Jesus.
The Inspiration
Why are you doing what you are doing? I mean basically everything you are doing. Why are you doing it? What is your true motivation behind it?
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
The Bible, Psalm 51:10, ESV
I am convinced that if every person would do everything they are doing in the right spirit, the world could be changed and become a better place. When I first wanted to name this blog post “The Intention” I had a “short view” on this. Then I realized that if we do things out of an intention it is either selfless or selfish. I believe that there is so much more than only those two options. If we start doing things out of an inspiration with the right motivation it turns out even better. My inspiration is Jesus. Whatever I do, I ask myself what Jesus would have done and get inspired by what I know about him. I even ask the Holy Spirit. Well, that’s how I started to refocus my doing for the right motivation behind everything. I want to give you a few examples:
What I want my motivation behind everything to be:
- Love and honor Jesus
- Love and honor and help people around me
- Keep my promises to keep my word
- To be honest; even if I am wrong
- Try to think what it might cause, stir up in the other person
- I want to easily forgive; I was forgiven as well
- I want to see the good in people and their motivation
It has taken me several years to get to a point where I can list all of those things. It is a step by step procedure – and I haven’t even reached all of the steps. The first step is to understand that you can ask yourself what your true motivation is. The next step is to observe yourself and your motivation behind everything. Don’t judge yourself, take your time. Invite God to help you. Take the first step and remind yourself of what you want to change. Change it. Live it.
