In August 2015 I decided that I wanted to build an ark.
After hearing the story of Noah and how he built his ark I decided that I wanted to do the same.
I wasn’t fascinated by the diversity or number of animals he carried with his ark. Rather was I impressed by the perseverance and faith he had. This ark wasn’t built in a year. According to the Bible it took him 120 years. Imagine how he must have felt during this time. The people around him were evil and he would be the only one who would be saved by the grace of God. (And his family.) So no one would really see what he was doing nor would they understand the importance.
Back to my ark.
Almost one year after I said to God that I wanted to build an ark I have realised that it contains much more than I thought in the beginning. God saw my willingness to serve and obey him. And I guess, these things in addition to my heart behind it is something he loves to work with.
I start to see where it could go and that it will be a lifetime commitment. When you build something, you start at the bottom not at the top. Noah started with the foundation as well. And I think that my past 21 years were the years I needed for a solid ground. And the last year was the first layer. Which was only possible through perseverance, the faithfulness of God and my trust.
